With over 4% of the United States population having done traditional scrapbooking, it is considered one of the most popular crafts in the nation. One of our customers who is the founder of Dawn’s Inspirations, a website that provides expert craft tutorials and workshops for making scrapbooks, photo albums shared their amazing scrapbook creations with us, all with the use of magnets!
With a YouTube channel and subscribers from all across the world, their love for teaching others the art of craft and scrapbooking is above and beyond. With multiple tutorials to for avid crafters and giving advice on how to utilize magnets in her tutorials, we thought we would share this for our US customers to have a go and get scrapbooking your family’s memories for the future!

When we spoke to our expert crafter, we asked what their top tips are for using magnets in craft projects. The top tips are:
- Choosing the correct strength – Most craft projects will not require a stronger pull magnet than a 2.2lbs! An insider tip for you is when working through layers of paper or card their strength will be reduced. The one recommended by our expert crafter is our 0.47″ diameter x 0.04″ thick N42 Neodymium Magnet – (1.61lbs) Pull
- Choose the correct thickness! – This will allow you to keep the magnet hidden behind the paper or card without being seen.
- Choose the correct poles – Self adhesive magnets are great for all craft projects, but remember magnets have two poles a north and south! Opposite poles attract and like poles repel, so when using self-adhesive magnets make sure to purchase both poles so you can easily open and securely shut your scrapbook.
- Use a steel disc! – Looking to cut back on a few Dollars, instead of purchasing two opposite poles you can always purchase a magnet and a steel disc. We recommend using 0.63″ diameter x 0.08″ thick 0.2″ c/sink Steel Discs. However, just note if you are looking at purchasing steel disc the attraction will be slightly weaker than if the magnet was attracting to another magnet.
