This clever paper weight calculator works by calculating the overall surface area of the paper (m2) and multiplying it by the weight of the paper (grams per m2), then fu
rther multiplying this figure by eight. The reason the weight of the paper is multiplied by eight is to compensate for the magnets working in a shear position and the thickness of the paper that the magnet has to attract through.

Make sure the screws are made from regular mild steel, not a non-magnetic material such as brass or stainless steel, and select magnets of the same diameter as the head of the screw.
